Golden Triangle Cycling Tour

This tour is currently set up as a custom tour.

If you have a group of 6 – 11 friends that would like to take part in this tour please contact us.

Want to take longer than the below itinerary suggests? Want to take more time to take in the surroundings, do a hike or play a round of golf or two? No worries all our tours are flexible and custom.

Mountain Madness Tours is pleased to present to you our modified version of the well known Golden Triangle route. As famous and well known as the Golden triangle route is, we believe the road between Lake Louise and Golden is currently not in good enough condition or safe enough for tours. Read on for more info on our version of the Golden Triangle route between Canmore and Panorama.

Day 1: 55 Km

Load up the van and trailer with bikes and luggage here in Edmonton or Calgary and hit the road to Canmore. Unload the bikes and ride towards Banff on the newly opened Banff Legacy Trail. We’ll ride past Banff and along the bike paths beside Vermillion lakes ending up at the start of the Bow Valley Parkway. We’ll then take this newly repaved road to Castle Mountain Chalets where we will stay the night. The Bow Valley Parkway is a great alternative to the main hwy. There is very little traffic on this road and the cars that do travel on this road travel at reasonably slow speeds are generally very courteous to bike traffic.

Day 2: 141 Km

Almost right away we start climbing up a 10 km long hill. Then the fun begins. For the next 70 km’s its either down hill, flat or gental rolling hills. Another 11 km climb awaits before an exhillerating descent into the town of Radium. We continue on through a town called Invermere then head uphill again for the final push into Panorama where we will stay for the next 2 nights.

Day 3: 91 Km

Today we ride out to the town of Fairmont and back which is mostly flat or rolling hills. It will feel like a rest day in comparison to yesterday. Relax in the hot tubs back in Panorama that afternoon, chill out at the condo’s or go hit a bucket of balls at the local driving range.

Day 4: 141 Km

Today we retrace our route from day 2 back to Panorama.

Day 5: 55 Km

The last day of riding is the reverse of Day 1. A mixture of flats and gentle rolling hills await you along the Bow Valley Parkway towards Banff. We finish up the ride in Canmore, pack up the bikes and luggage and drive you back to Edmonton or Calgary. Airport transfers possible on request.
