Whitewater Rafting in Grande Cache

Print

Mountain Madness Tours in association with Wild Blue Yonder is excited to introduce you to a relatively tourist free destination just outside the Jasper National Park; Grand Cache. Experience all the mountains without the crowds and go rafting down some spectacular rapids though a 11 km long canyon past the famous Sulphur Gates then on to some hilarious water gun fights as you enter the smoky river.

The Sulphur Run

Day trips from $194 per person. Includes transport from Edmonton and GST

Saturday Trips from $204 per person. Includes Transport from Edmonton and GST.

The Sulphur run is an excellent introduction to white water rafting. This small, winding river is in a deep canyon, has lots of rocks to avoid, and, on an average, has waves two to three feet high to splash through. June is generally high water season, when the waves are the biggest and most challenging!

The Sulphur Run goes down 11 kms of the canyon.  The incredible canyon walls also make this trip our most scenic. At the confluence of the Sulphur and Smoky Rivers, we enter the well-known Sulphur Gates. The last half hour, we float down the Smoky River, where we pull out the super-soakers for some epic water fights!

Difficulty level: Beginner/intermediate, Class 2/3.

Ages: High water - ages 12 plus; medium water - ages 9 plus; low water - ages 7plus.

One Day, Two Rivers

Day trips from $236 per person.  Includes transport from Edmonton and GST.

Saturday trips from $246 per person. Includes transport from Edmonton and GST.

As we pass through the cliffs of the Sulphur Gates onto the Smoky River, it’s time to relax and enjoy the mountain view, until lunch. Then it’s back on the Smoky for an hour-long float, with occasional wildlife sightings. The last run of the day is through the BIG Smoky River rapids!

Total river time: 4 hours.

Total trip time: 6.5 hours.

Difficulty level: Beginner/intermediate, Class 2/3.

Ages: High water - ages 12 plus; medium water - ages 9 plus; low water - ages 7 plus.
